Shalimar Gardens (Watercolor)

250.00

This watercolor rendering showcases a pavilion of the famed Shalimar Gardens northeast of Lahore. The gardens are a grand Mughal garden complex, built by the Emperor Shah Jehan. The Shalimar Gardens are laid out in the form of an oblong parallelogram, laced with intricate fretwork. The Gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage site and have hosted numerous celebrities and dignitaries over the years including a visit by Jackie Kennedy and Princess Radziwill in 1962.

This painting was made by Naseer-ud-Din of the Naqsh School of the Arts. Located in the old walled city of Lahore, the school is a non-profit institution that seeks to preserve Pakistani artistic heritage by teaching miniature painting and other artistic techniques to its students. Ralli is a proud strategic partner with the Naqsh School.
